East Yorkshire firm completes MOD accommodation contract

Burstwick-based Integra Buildings Ltd has successfully completed a prestigious £1M Ministry of Defence contract providing single living accommodation for 40 military personnel at RAF Odiham in Hampshire – on-time and in budget.

The finished build addresses a need for accommodation on the RAF base, which has experienced a severe shortage in recent years.

The modular accommodation building was built on-site at the 25,000 ft² Burstwick factory and transported to the RAF base where the foundations were prepared. Work on the new build began in March and is now sited within the RAF base and finished with a traditional brick and a decra tiled roofing system.

The 840 square metre building provides 40 bedrooms with wash facilities, bag stores, kit wash and drying rooms.

Integra Buildings Ltd has been designing and manufacturing prefabricated and portable modular buildings nationwide for 10 years. Gary Parker, managing director, said today: “We are delighted to have met all the MOD requirements on-time and in budget. The project has worked through all weather conditions and has gone very smoothly.

“Although the modular building has been manufactured at our plant in East Yorkshire, it provides a permanent accommodation facility on the base with a life-span exactly the same as a traditional building. We are really pleased that the RAF base is so happy with the finished build and hope we can work with them again on future projects.”

Group Captain Reynolds, Station Commander, commented, “The relationship between Integra and my property management team has been excellent throughout the project and we are delighted with the finished result. The new occupants of the block are very happy with their new living space and there has been a great deal of interest in this modular build from across the service community.”
